Some of you will remember a while ago, a few of us help a cat called Abyss in Los Angeles. The Feral Cat Alliance were heavily involved in getting the help that he needed and were absolutely fantastic. I've received this email off them today asking for help for Little Adam.

Adam Really Needs You!
This is Adam. He is so tiny you'd think he was 10 weeks but he's about 5 months old. Adam was trapped at a mechanic shop and brought to Stray Cat Alliance's (formerly Feral Cat Alliance) Free Spay Clinic in mid-August but he was too sick to be fixed. Adam was taken to a home for care and love. Suddenly, he started having seizures and they became increasingly worse. One vet suggested he be put down with no diagnosis. Adam was then taken to Westside Animal Emergency where Dr Gary Adams stabilized him. Several tests and a Portal Scintigraphy was done, Adam was diagnosed as having a Liver Shunt. Surgery will totally cure this condition.
A portosystemic shunt is a blood vessel that bypasses liver tissue, carrying blood from the intestines, stomach, spleen, and pancreas to the heart before it can be filtered and cleansed of proteins, sugars, bacteria, and toxins. Shunts are present in all fetal mammals and usually close down shortly before or after birth so that the baby's liver takes over the functions of filtration, storage, and production. Poor Adam's didn't close down. Adam's surgery will happen in about a week and will cost approximately $4,000. He is a totally happy, loving little boy.
Just look into his eyes, how can we say no to him?
We are reaching out to you to help save him.
